Maggie Shellene

Maggie Shellene is a passionate and dedicated advocate with a profound commitment to preventing sexual violence and fostering safe, supportive communities. As the Director of Education at the Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center (DARCC), Maggie brings a rich tapestry of experience and expertise to her role, making a lasting impact on those she serves. Maggie's journey in advocacy and education began after she graduated from Stonehill College in 2018 with a Bachelor's degree in Criminology. During her time at college, Maggie immersed herself in the local rape crisis center, serving as a medical advocate and sharing her powerful story as a survivor speaker. It was through these experiences that Maggie discovered her passion for education and advocacy around issues of sexual assault and violence. Following her graduation, Maggie embarked on a transformative career with Teach For America in Dallas, Texas, where she dedicated five years to serving in Title I schools. Her time in the classroom deepened her understanding of the intersection of education and social justice, inspiring her to pursue a Master's degree in Education from Southern Methodist University in 2020 with a concentration in urban communities. Eager to broaden her impact and leadership skills, Maggie furthered her education by earning a Master's in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M Commerce in 2023. After furthering her academic pursuits, Maggie felt a calling to return to her roots in advocacy for survivors of sexual violence and sharing valuable strategies for creating safer, more informed communities and empowering individuals to stand against sexual violence.
