Description: As we tune into social media and local and national news stories covering the escalating incidents of gender-based violence, it is evident that society seems to be losing the skill of self-control and empathy among other personal development skills. This session provides an overview of emotional intelligence and strategies to develop programming that builds emotional intelligence into your community outreach program.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will be able to: 

  • Define emotional intelligence and discuss the Bradberry/Greaves 2.0 Model. 
  • Define and discuss the ecological model of primary prevention. 
  • Demonstrate ability to implement the emotional intelligence model by developing an initial activity or campaign during the session and completed after the session.

Thecia Jenkins

Thecia Jenkins is an international speaker, consultant, and author teaching non-profits and small businesses to equip their leadership and teams to deliver client services that are affirming and inclusive while also building self-care for themselves. Thecia is a certified emotional intelligence practitioner and behavioral consultant and has over twenty-five years in social services as a program and human resources director. Thecia is passionate about delivering transformational programming that challenges professionals to increase their self-awareness, manage change, connect with others, and embrace diversity to build high-achieving teams that produce bold outcomes. She does this through keynotes, success workshops, consulting, and coaching.
