DescriptionIn this presentation, participants will learn about how to help immigrant clients identify and work through trauma and grief from their immigration experience. In addition, you will learn to identify ways in which clients may minimize their own traumatic experience. We will also address how trauma responses and sometimes cultural beliefs can create avoidance in the client’s grief process.   

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the potential trauma of immigration 
  • Identify and assess unresolved trauma and grief in immigrant clients 
  • Obtain resources to help clients dealing with trauma

Cecilia Wright

Cecilia Wright is an LPC in Plano, TX. She has a passion for working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and those with multicultural backgrounds. She enjoys working with motivated individuals, especially those who have never tried therapy before. As an immigrant, she understands the power of breaking through cultural barriers and taboos to prioritize their mental health. Cecilia earned a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Dallas Baptist University in 2016 and has been practicing ever since. She has experience working in outpatient settings, non-profit, and private practice, with individuals and groups.
