Continuing Education Hours: 1 CE for LPC, SW, LMFT, and Psychologists - NBCC Approved

Description: Many people, including advocates and therapists, think once the client has escaped her abusive situation the abuse is over. Sadly, especially if there are children, post-separation or post-divorce abuse can continue for years. This session helps participants understand ways abuse can continue and how to help survivors manage it while working toward their own healing. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to explain what post-separation and post-divorce abuse is. 
  • Participants will be able to list ways post-separation and post-divorce abuse is perpetrated. 
  • Participants will be able to describe ways to help survivors address post-separation and post-divorce abuse.  
  • Participants will be able to describe ways to protect children impacted by post-separation and post-divorce abuse.

Tabitha Westbrook

Tabitha Westbrook graduated with her BA in Psychology from NC Central University and her MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. She’s the Founder & CEO of The Journey and The Process, a private practice with offices in Wake Forest, NC and Flower Mound, TX, which specializes in complex trauma, with a focus on domestic abuse and coercive control. Tabitha is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor (LMFT-S) in NC and TX, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in TX, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor & Qualified Supervisor (LCMHC QS) in NC, an LPC in SD, and a Registered Telehealth Professional in FL and SC. Tabitha is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, EMDRIA Certified Therapist & EMDR Approved Consultant, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). Tabitha partners with Called to Peace Ministries to help teach the domestic abuse advocacy course and co-facilitates the men's batterer intervention group, G5.
