Continuing Education Hours: 1.5 CE for LPC, SW, LMFT, and Psychologists - NBCC Approved

Description: This training explores the unique challenges faced by first- and second-generation immigrant and refugee survivors of violence. Participants will learn how to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive safety planning that considers language barriers, cultural dynamics, and access to critical resources. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand added challenges many survivors face who are first or second-generation immigrants or refugees 
  • Provide access services from your organization for people with language barriers related to English language use or head injuries  
  • Gather or create culturally responsive abuse-education tools and share resources in adaptive ways
  • Empower survivors, with a listening attitude and clear communication

Elisabeth Swim has been Daya's first Helpline Client Advocate since late 2021. Passionate about communication across barriers of language and ability, Elisabeth has produced abuse-education tools for Daya that include our Survivor Healing Wheel and multilingual versions of healthy relationships wheels from the Duluth model and the Cycle of Abuse.
