Description: This presentation will be a deep dive into serial killers and how they target women and women presenting populations. The presentation will provide a deep dive into how serial killers are defined and what behavioral traits they may exhibit, specifically psychopathy. We will examine the link between domestic violence and serial killers using data collected and analyzed by the presenter. We will also investigate how serial killers target sex workers and the implications for investigators. The presentation includes case studies and practical tools that criminal justice practitioners can use. This training is geared towards law enforcement, advocates, clinicians, and other criminal justice practitioners. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of serial killers, specifically sexually motivated serial offenders 
  • Attendees will learn about the overlap of domestic violence and serial offenders
  • Attendees will learn about the overlap between sex worker homicides and serial offenders 
  • Attendees will gain knowledge on practical tools that can be used to investigate serial offender crimes.

AJ Greer is a criminal justice professional with a strong background in psychology and a passion for advocating against domestic violence and sexual assault. She works for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Research Specialist V. AJ has worked in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault prevention for five years. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology, specializing in sex offender behaviors. Her academic pursuits have equipped her with a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding domestic violence, sexual assault, serial sexual offenses, and offender behavior. Her areas of specialization encompass domestic violence prevention, sexual assault intervention, and offender behavior analysis.
