Description & Objectives

Continuing Education Hours: 1.5 CE for LPC, SW, LMFT, and Psychologists - NBCC Approved

Description: Religious trauma, like any form of trauma, can have lasting psychological and emotional effects if left unaddressed. Yet, it is often overlooked in discussions of trauma-informed care. Helping professionals must be prepared to support individuals who have been harmed by the very institutions and leaders meant to guide them. This training will provide an understanding of religious trauma, its impact on identity and well-being, and trauma-informed approaches to healing. Participants will gain the tools to offer compassionate, informed care to those recovering from religious harm.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define religious trauma and recognize its symptoms.
  • Explore trauma-informed interventions to support healing.
  • Understand the impact of religious trauma on identity, self-esteem, and worldview.
